Garage Door Warranty Information

Buying a garage door is something you may only do once or twice in your life. Many manufacturers sell doors that can last several decades. Garage Doors are the largest moving object in your home and require regular maintenance. However, the larger and more expensive parts of a garage door like door panels and track usually get replaced due to being damaged or to update the look of a home. Although most garage doors hold up well there are always defects. This is why it’s important to make sure that the door you buy has a great warranty. When you buy a garage door you will typically get a warranty in 3 parts.

  • Paint Warranty: Your paint warranty can be valuable because many garage door builders have produced doors in the past that do not hold color well. It makes no sense to replace a garage door to improve the curb appeal of your home and end up with a dull faded door in 2 year
  • Section Warranty: Most garage doors are made of steel. These steel panels rarely rust, but can sometimes separate and become flimsy. This can make your door structurally unsound.
  • Hardware Warranty: Common garage door replacement parts are springs and rollers. These repairs can be expensive. Check your garage door warranty before paying a repair man.
  • Labor Warranty: A labor warranty should always be offered outside of the manufacturer’s warranty. These warranties are typically 90 days. This means that the installer will return to your home to make free adjustments after the installation.
